Introduction to Mindfulness for Therapists
Target Audience: Psychologists, Social Workers, Marriage & Family Therapists, Counselors. Students in related fields are welcome!
Learning Level: Introductory
Mindfulness is a practice of meeting each moment with clarity and acceptance. It teaches us to bring awareness to the moments of pain and heartache, to remember that we all face challenges, and to treat ourselves with compassion even in the most difficult circumstances. This stance allows us to learn from our experience rather than pushing it away, making it a powerful tool for emotional resilience for mental health professionals and our clients.
This Mindfulness for Therapists webinar is based on the groundbreaking programs developed at the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Forty years of peer-reviewed research has shown mindfulness to be an effective support for both physical and mental health.
Presenter: April Kaiserlian, LMSW
Co-Founder of the Grand Rapids Center for Mindfulness, Experiential Psychotherapist, Mindfulness & Self-Compassion Instructor
April has been teaching and practicing mindfulness and self-compassion for over 10 years. She is also a psychotherapist focused on creative, body-centered therapy. April teaches and practices from a place of field-testing each and every practice she offers. She is a firm believer that any and all practices need to be able to meet you in the struggle and joys of everyday life. Read full bio
