Parenting is Hard: Mindfulness to the Rescue

By now we have settled into the school year, established our routines, and maybe even had a bit of time to relax and soak in the beauty of fall. Fall is one of my favorite seasons. The warm air is balanced with a bit of coolness. Temperatures begin to drop drastically at night and rise quickly during the day. Our days become shorter and a general softness settles in. The leaves turn brilliant colors, eventually falling and becoming crisp and fluffy. Mother Nature is preparing to rest and renew. The fall season has many teachings to offer us.

Fall: A Time to Nest, Rest, and Restore.

Fall teaches us to slow down and savor the moments of beauty in our lives. We can begin to wear snuggly clothing and eat hot soups. Fall invites us to balance our time with our friends, our family, and the activities we are involved in. It also invites us to go within, to nurture ourselves.

The reality is many of us are just too busy to take time out, to slow down, and to be in sync with Nature’s teachings. We may be feeling run down and overwhelmed.

There are so many demands on parents today. We used to have extended families to help us, but now most of us are doing more with less. It is not a sustainable situation. If you are feeling out of balance, out of whack, overwhelmed, or just simply looking for a parenting model that is compassionate for both you and your children, join me in this upcoming class! 

Mindfulness and Self-Compassion to the Rescue

The class will be focused on learning how mindfulness is beneficial and how being present with your family creates lasting bonds. We will explore individual parenting values and find ways to apply these values to your parenting. The last week will focus on emotional regulation. We will learn mindfulness and mindful self-compassion skills and practices that we can use immediately.
